Hoping to convince my husband that the Michigan coast could be almost as scenic as his beloved California, we set out for a long weekend drive. We visited Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Homestead Resort, Grand Traverse Bay, and Lake Charlevoix.

Do goats really wander? What about wanderers, do you think they mind when goats copy them? Does a website called wandering goats really have to be about goats? I mean is Amazon really selling riverfront property in South America, actually they probably are by now, but I'm getting off track here. Maybe that will be the long range plan for this site, to sell a special breed of wandering goats. For now this site is just about two people who like to wander, usually sans goats.

Memorial Day weekend trip to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. 30 mile trip included a hike up Old Rag, scenic waterfall views via the Whiteoak Canyon Trail, and a short stretch on the Appalachian Trail.

It's said that more people visit Yellowstone in a day than visit Isle Royale in an entire year. After only 1 trip it's easy to see why those that do choose to visit stay for an average of 3 1/2 days -- 22 times longer than the 4 hours averaged at other National Parks.

The Potawatomi Trail (or "Poto") is a 17.5 mile trail that winds through the Pinckney Recreation Area in Pinckney, Michigan. The trail is open to both hikers and mountain bikers.
